Proudly Kiwi. Built to Last.
Designer Letterboxes is a New Zealand owned and operated business, born from a genuine passion for quality craftsmanship and a belief that the entrance to your home deserves better than a flimsy piece of metal clipped to a fence.
Our Story
It started with a simple frustration — why are most letterboxes so cheap and ugly? The options at the hardware store were either thin pressed metal that rusts after a season, or plastic boxes that fade and crack in the New Zealand sun. We knew there had to be a better way.
So we set out to craft something different: handbuilt, solid wooden letterboxes designed to stand the test of time and genuinely add character to your home. Each one is crafted with care right here in New Zealand, using quality timber sourced from trusted local New Zealand suppliers. Supporting local businesses matters to us — not just as a talking point, but as a value we put into practice with every order.
We specialise in freestanding pillar-style letterboxes — the kind that make a statement at the end of your driveway, not the kind that wobble on a fence post. Built from solid wood, finished to weather the elements, and designed to become a permanent, proud feature of your property.

Real Kerb Appeal
A handcrafted freestanding pillar letterbox is the finishing touch that sets your property apart. First impressions matter — make yours count.
Why Not Just a Cheap Metal Box?
We get it — a $30 metal letterbox clipped to the fence does the job. But it also rusts, dents, fades, and looks like an afterthought.
Our wooden letterboxes are built as a proper part of your property. Freestanding pillar designs sit solidly at your entrance, weather beautifully with the right finish, and won't need replacing every few years. They add real value and visual appeal to your home — something no cheap metal box ever could.
Buy once. Love it forever.
